I Now Wear Heels

My Heel On My Cast

Sharon was away again, and as a result it was another long week of me fending for myself (This of course meant I ate pizza about 4 times, so it wasn’t all bad). Luckily there was a light at the end of the tunnel and, on Friday, John picked me up and we headed down to Westville Hospital. It was finally time for me to get my walking heel added to my cast – Six weeks on crutches had been a nightmare and I was glad it was finally over.

Thirty minutes later and the heel was on. I wasn’t feeling brave in front of the hospital crowds so I crutched out of there and headed home. Once John had left I tossed the crutches aside and braved the first walk. Now I use the term walk lightly, as it was really a collection of limps and falls which I somehow managed to control. After making it to the kitchen I celebrated with a cup of coffee which I bravely hobbled back to the couch. It wasn’t difficult to walk, but I’m certainly slower than on crutches. It is however far better as I actually have some mobility and can do things again.
